[So, from what he's gathering here, Asato is a cat who has somehow separated himself from the place he was from and is in a difficult relationship with it. He seems kind but meek, and certainly the type of person that could be tricked into just about anything. He could be wrong, but that's just Iori's first impression.
Which means, of course he wants to help him.]
If you stand out here looking as helpless as you do, then someone's going to feed you misinformation. [Does he have to word it so harshly...] Why don't you come with me? If we're both new, we can find things out together. I can also explain what I've learned so far.
( the thin black tail gives a slow sway of contentment, pleased at having solved this incredibly minute problem.
entirely proving the point he was making, he looks at iori with wide, guileless eyes, though his expression begins to edge into hesitant and uncertain as he continues. he hadn't trusted any cats on the streets of ransen — he had avoided them — but Two Canes were supposed to be different, right? the brilliant creatures who had built ways to fly through the air and sail across the endless sea? why would they want to trick him?
a moment ago, he would have agreed without hesitation. but now iori has instilled in him a seed of doubt, and so he presses forward with questioning, ) How... do I know you won't lie to me, or do something bad? ( it's not that there's anything apparently untrustworthy about him, but... asato doesn't know much about humans. he can't really tell. ) Will you promise me that you won't?
( yep, that's all you need to do. but hearing it will give asato a gut instinct on the situation, and that's all he needs. )
[He says it seriously, sincerely, and places a hand over his own chest, over his heart. After that, he lets it drop away, though his serious gaze stays on Asato.]
If I wanted to lie to you or harm you, I wouldn't have led with something that would lead you to be suspicious of me. It's no guarantee, but please allow me to prove myself. Those questions that you're asking now are important to ask of anyone you meet, Asato-san. You shouldn't be so easily swayed just because someone can tell you "I promise!" with a serious face, either.
But I won't lead you astray. You can trust in me. [He gestures over along the street.] You're free to question anything that I say, but I'm also looking to learn information about this place, so we're on even ground.
( asato is a simple creature. his life so far has been a stark one, determinedly black and white. there were those that had been cruel to him and then there had been the few that had offered kindness. that number was getting larger here, yes (something he has a hard time understanding, cursed black-furred cat he is), but it didn't mean he couldn't abandon the wariness twenty years of near-total isolation would instill.
but asato is also a creature that trusts in his instincts, in what he reads from people. he looks at iori now and believes that he is telling the truth -- that proof is painted in the tone of his voice, the clarity in his eyes.
(he's so much better with his words, though... it's almost intimidating.) )
Mm. I believe you. I can tell you aren't lying. ( the purest proof asato ever needed: a gut feeling. he glances down the street that iori had indicated and nods his head. ) Okay. We can go together, then?
[It's simple, and Iori decides not to comment on the "I can tell" comment. It's best not to, in this situation. Later, once they know each other better, he'll guide him in that way. But for now...
He moves to start walking, expecting Asato to come along with him. He'll take him on a tour and go over what he knows, they'll share information, and he's sure they'll find out more along the way. This place is so unique that he's sure there are differences from both of their planets, even if... Asato is a cat.]
You don't have to look so embarrassed at the concept. You're worried about the physical contact, aren't you?
[Blunt, too much so, and yet it happens so naturally as Iori moves over to the small cat, picking it up into his own arms. Don't jump onto the counters for now, kitty, just stay here in his arms.]
There's something called Demichroma that's worth far less than Chroma, but still functions effectively as currency. I'm not sure how quickly I'd be able to work up that much, but... at the very least, I can purchase everything next time, and we can call it even.
["Next time."]
I can also work first on trying to return them to their homes. Before any of that, I'll also work on making dinner for the both of us, and you're welcome to stay the night. There's a second bedroom, so I don't mind if you take it.
[For the past few days, Iori had been avoiding Mika. After all, it had seemed that he was affecting him, causing him to become more affectionate, simply through pheromones. That's what it was, wasn't it? Iori could sense some of them from Mika, as well, and the last thing he wanted was to create an awkward situation with his roommate, and the only person he's managed to actually befriend since arriving here. So, he'd come home, shut himself in his room except for when cooking. However... it didn't seem to solve the issue. In fact, Mika seemed more depressed?
So, he'd gone out today and purchased something. Two somethings, really... He pauses outside of their apartment and glances down at them in his palm. They're both cat pins, custom made— though Iori will insist that he found them by chance. Black cats, though one of them has white tips to the ears and tail, mismatched eyes and a small chunk missing from one ear. It's rather clear that they're supposed to represent both Mika's and his own Cordis form.
His own black cat ears twitch on his head before he closes his fingers around the gift and pushes the door open.]
I'm home—
[It's what he always calls out, though this time he's greeted by one of the cats almost immediately, meowing almost as if to ask him for attention. There's no response, either, and as he glances across the room, he can spot Mika's collapsed form. Panic lurches in his chest, and he rushes over, dropping to his knees.]
Kagehira-san?! [Ah, careful, he lifts him gently to prop him against his own chest, trying to look him over in order to determine what's wrong. Exhaustion, it seems like... Chroma? Could it be Chroma? Then is holding him like this enough to help? He squeezes his arm gently.]
( unfortunately for him, nobody ever really told mika what happened when you ran out of the chroma you need to get through passively just existing in lunatia. chroma is necessary — sure. it's money, of course money is needed to buy food and other such things, and make sure your body is being properly taken care of. if anybody knows the importance of that, (despite not necessarily being a stellar example of the taking-care part,) it would probably be mika. as for chroma as an energy source though?
it hits him before he even sees it coming. one moment, he's tidying up after himself before heading out to run some errands, and the next, he's opening his eyes to see iori's face right up close. )
Ngh, Iori-kun?
( blinking, he takes in the situation — they're on the ground. okay. iori looks worried. alright. he's, for some reason, being held in iori's arms while this is happening. huh??? with those three things in mind, it doesn't take very much for mika to infer what's happened — even now he's still a little light-headed, or maybe it's just sore from hitting the ground, who knows at this rate. when it comes to this kind of thing, he sure doesn't. what matters is that he's pretty sure that he passed out, because this isn't the first time something like this has happened and knowing mika, it probably won't be the last either. in the moment though? something like guilt runs through him at the sight of that worried expression, so he tries to sit himself up straight on his own — show he's okay. )
Ah, sorry. I must've, uh, tripped.
( and, you know, stayed down. he's not a very good liar. )
[A snap of a reply to that, as Iori's grip tightens slightly on Mika. Not only has he collapsed, but he's lying about it? So he was aware of his exhaustion. Hiding it. That's what all of this points to, right? The idiot is himself, he thinks, for not noticing this sooner and doing something about it.]
You were completely still on the ground. If I hadn't found you...
[He breathes out in a huff, and though Mika might be trying to sit up on his own, Iori doesn't let him. He follows his movements, helping him up, supporting his weight.]
Nevermind. Just be honest with me now. What are you feeling? Can you stand? Let me help you.
( mika's eyes widen quickly at such a sharp response — he unconsciously withdraws slightly, the forced smile on his face sheepish and apologetic as he does so. there's a nervous sound that passes his lips, but ultimately, iori's kind of right. he knows better than to think someone as observant as iori would be fooled by a simple excuse like that — just hadn't thought it would hurt so bad to try. )
Nn, sorry. I'm fine though, honestly.
( he pauses, hesitant as to whether this information might set iori off worse, but ultimately... it's probably helpful. )
Truth is, 's not the first time it's happened, yanno? It's kinda weird though, I ate somethin' a li'l while ago after all.
( normally this sort of thing, well it's just the result of strict budgeting, and the idea that it could be something else slips his mind for the moment. for the moment though, he tries to focus on reassuring the other — he's not so good at monitoring physical condition, but let's see... )
I'm not dizzy or nothin', but my head's a li'l sore.
[Iori goes quiet for a moment at that news. Not the first time. So, Mika's been hiding things from him for longer? At detriment to his own health. He shifts to place a hand over Mika's forehead to check his temperature.]
Why didn't you tell me?
[Despite his earlier snapping comment, Iori sounds so completely genuine in asking this question that there's almost a note of sadness to it. What did he do wrong? Why couldn't he be told? He's blaming himself already. The Cordis moon, the pheromones he was avoiding that he's definitely sensing this close to him now. Mika must be able to smell the same on him.
He'd gotten weird, so he hid away. But was it actually worse that way?]
You can tell me while I help you up. Here, put your arm around me and lean your weight, like this. I don't trust you to stand yet. You're likely experiencing a shortage in Chroma.
Huh? Well I guess it just didn't feel important. It happened back at home, so I didn't think ya needed to know that bad. I was savin' up war funds at the time, so I was kinda skimpin' on some meals from time to time.
( "time to time" meaning, more or less, "all the time," that is. that said, clearly it's nothing iori has to worry about having brought upon himself; it was simply something that had slipped mika's mind, been filed away as unimportant information to know about him. obediently wrapping his arm around iori's neck, he leans only lightly into him — truthfully, it's a little embarrassing to depend on someone else like this for something as simple as standing. if he had it his way, he'd just drink a juicebox and be done with it, but that's when iori says something that catches his attention and his tail flicks.
ah... so that's it. )
Chroma? Nn, I guess I have been a li'l short...
( chroma is... a little harder to deal with than food. and with one of his main sources of it avoiding him and all... mika glances away. )
[He leads them over to the couch, the closest thing to sit on, and lowers him to a seat, making sure he manages that just fine before standing up. Behind him, his black tail is fairly still, and at least one of the cats has wandered closer to try and paw at it, missing each time.
To think that he was skipping meals like this regularly.]
I'll get you a glass of water and something more to eat, so wait here. [The kitchen isn't far, and so he moves to do that now, even while waiting for Mika to explain. The cat that had been pawing at him just sort of flops over on the floor there as he leaves. He's quiet for now, himself, but it's because he's thinking about so much...]
Yanno, like, money to hold lives with an' such. Since most of the time, we were performin' at a loss.
( their wallets were pretty thin for the majority of the year, though they ended up okay in the end of it all. there's a silent breath of relief as iori helps him down on the couch — and it wouldn't be a lie to say it's partly out of the fact that the proximity between them made it difficult to breathe in anything but a sweet and entirely too-enticing scent with it. putting his hands together to fidget, mika watches absently as the cat tries and fails for iori's attention, and calls lightly to it as he waits for the other's return to distract himself. holding out one hand and rubbing his fingers together, making a light psss psss psss sound for it to hear. )
I had no idea that you were at such a loss with funds.
[Performing at a loss... It makes sense, of course. Not everyone starts well off, and even if you do, the industry could tear you down easily. Iori isn't sure if this is the best thing for him right now, but since he said he'd eaten earlier... he just grabs some of the pastries he'd made earlier in the day due to a craving. They're perfectly crafted, adorable looking puff pastries. He puts a couple on a plate, grabs a glass of water, and moves back over towards him.]
You were acting strange around me, and so I avoided you to make it easier on you during this time... but it seems I was wrong to act so rashly. I guess you really do need someone constantly there to watch over you.
[R...rude, wording it like that. But he means that he should have been there to help, really, as he passes him the water and holds the plate for him, sitting right next to him on the couch. The cat is there too, having inched closer from those calls.]
Since we're both influenced by the Cordis moons, we can help one another in dealing with the symptoms. You'll be even hungrier than usual, and you won't be able to push yourself as much as you might have before.
( yeah, that comment of iori's makes his cheeks redden — embarrassed at the idea of being treated like a child or some such, who can't be left alone to himself. truthfully, he likes to think he can be (and tends to be) relatively independent and good at taking care of what needs to be done when he needs to be. but, well, maybe iori has a point about that pushing himself bit. still, it doesn't stop the light sigh that mika offers in response, brows knit together as he looks at iori with a troubled expression. )
When ya say it like that, ya make it sound like I can't take care of myself or somethin'...
( and, clearly, he takes issue with that!!
in the meantime though, he guesses it's confession time. iori admitted to avoiding him after all. )
To make it — It's not like I didn't want ya around though, Iori-kun. Well, I guess that is my fault though... Uh, it's kinda embarrasin' to say, but ya... actually smell real good. In fact, the whole place is like that since the Cordis moon started, so I guess I was... actin' a li'l more comfortable with ya than I should'a.
( a pause, mika leaning down to reach out and run his fingers through the cat's soft fur, allowing him to avoid eye-contact, and — )
I thought ya just decided ya didn't like me anymore, to tell ya the truth.
If I didn't like you, I would have left you to fend for yourself long ago.
[IORI?
He's such a jerk, honestly, I hope Mika has learned this. His harsh words always come with such gentle actions, though, such as pushing the plate forward a little more. Take a pastry, drink your water, boy.]
Those are called pheromones. It seems that they're a common Cordis trait. You're emitting them as well. [He clears his throat a little with his free hand covering his mouth.] I thought that if you continued to act in such a friendly manner, I might act on impulses outside of my control. I also thought that you were acting outside of your control, so for both of our sakes, I avoided you as much as possible.
[Now, he turns his gaze back on Mika, firm.]
You've proven you can't take care of yourself by passing out in the middle of the floor like that. If you were worried, you should have just asked me. [... And he should have just said what he was doing, but details.]
( well that's... blunt. but, you know what, maybe it's for the better. helps it get through mika's thick skull that he means what he says when he says it, and also, they're words with a good meaning despite their sharp delivery; even with his own doubts in himself, mika can understand what iori is getting at with that. in any case, noting the way the food is pushed towards him, he lets the cat be and instead makes to grab the water, holding it in his hands carefully, and sipping at it as iori explains the whole pheromone deal going on.
mika had kind of understood the gist of it, had gone out of his way to make sure he did, but still. hearing that iori's avoidance had come from a place of concern rather than disdain is... a little bit reassuring. the rest of it, he's a little insulted, but a little resigned to the fact that it's kind of true. those black ears at the top of his head flatten slightly, and he interjects. )
To be fair, yanno we didn't really have to worry 'bout Chroma back home.
( he thought it was just money and not, like, food, where he has to actually keep track of his intake. )
An' if ya were uncomfortable with that, ya could'a just told me, too, instead of goin' outta yer way to avoid me. Ya had me real spooked, after all.
( sure, iori feels pretty irresistible, even now, but mika'd like to think that if he knows someone's uncomfortable with his actions, he can rein himself in. )
[There's a long pause where Iori thinks on that. It's true that he could have just communicated, but that... Why didn't he? Well... He knows why. But how can he explain that properly? That he's afraid of ruining their friendship? That he might come on too strong and ruin things afterwards? That he doesn't want to get rid of the only new friend he's made here?
He looks away, down at his lap, his own ears lowering slightly.]
I wasn't uncomfortable, Kagehira-san. Rather, I didn't want to make you uncomfortable. [His tail flicks, whapping lightly against the side of Mika's thigh once without him really noticing or paying any mind to it.]
But you're right. I should have said something, since it's an unusual situation for the both of us. I'm sorry.
( the pause is a little awkward, a little concerning, but it doesn't have a bad conclusion, luckily! mika is quick to jump in as iori finishes up what he's saying, somewhat flustered. )
Ya don't have to apologize or nothin', yer gonna make me embarrassed.
( and he sure looks it, sheepish smile with brows pushed together almost apologetically himself. he hadn't meant it to be scolding, but looking back on the words, maybe they came out that way, and that's why iori is apologizing to him now. in any case, mika's not mad — he's way too relieved about the whole situation to be. instead, he visibly relaxes somewhat, shoulders falling more comfortably and ears straightening out, perking up really, as he reaches forward to set down the water and exchange it for a bite of the pastry instead. )
Anyway, I oughta apologize for the scare too. I'll try an' keep a better eye on it, so ya don't have to worry about me.
[Hmm. He's going to worry about Mika regardless of what he says. In fact, he feels like he was careless, this time around... He ended up on the floor because of him? Iori hesitates, then reaches into his pocket where he'd shoved the cat pins from earlier.]
I don't want to find you on the floor again, so just tell me if there's anything bothering you rather than holding it back like that.
[Huffier, slightly, with the color in his cheeks, now he holds out his hand insistently. If Mika pauses from his pastry enough to open his own, Iori will drop both cat pins into it, though he's refusing to look at him directly.]
By chance, I came across these... There's nothing that I can do with them, anyway, so I thought I'd give them to you.
( he's about to object — finding him on the floor isn't a common thing, honest (although it kind of is). before he can though, he finds iori's hand held out to him, and since he'd already set down the pastry in readiness to reply, mika's hands are free to accept what's held out to him. he blinks down at the two pins, shiny and new, and feels his face heating up somewhat once more, a rose colour burning itself into his cheeks. )
Eh? Ya really got 'em for me?
( he's simple; if iori says he doesn't have a use for them, mika supposes he must not. even so... )
Are ya sure? They're awful cute, an' ya know, ya didn't have to get me anythin' for it.
( actually, he doesn't remember telling iori his birthday was coming up, but this timing... it's a little too close to be a coincidence, isn't it? or maybe christmas? either way, mika is caught off somewhat, unprepared for such an unprompted act of kindness. )
[Of course Iori was interested in the performance. He was trying to see all that he could. The ball, the activities, and this theatrical performance that he had foolishly assumed would go smoothly. He doesn't expect the face full of dust that has him sneezing, and the moment he lifts his head, finds that he is tiny, fluttering his little wings to keep himself afloat.
Of course, he's not used to flying at all, and as he lets out a yell of surprise, he clutches to whatever is closest to him to be able to find some sort of stability. That happens to be... Merlin's arm?]
( caster is well accustomed when it comes to fae and their court, some are helpful towards the well-being of humans, and other would like to take ownership of them as pets. he may not know what court that this one belongs to, but caster pinches the back of the creature's clothing with the tips of his nails so that he's unable to get away. the voice is a little squeakier, he wouldn't have been able to recognize who this was, but the appearance is strikingly familiar. )
No, no. I'm "big bro", remember? ( don't tell him that you've forgotten, iori? luckily caster remembers you. ) Ah, you never told me that you were a trickster, and you had such trouble playing my guessing game before.
( he shakes iori just a little, trying to make him just a little dizzy. ugh, unhand him, rat. ) I am ever so thrilled to see you again.
I'm no trickster, and you're nothing like my brother.
[His Nii-san isn't a creepy weirdo who tricked him at a stupid game...!! Iori is definitely shaken, though, releasing the sleeve in order to grab at his own head and steady himself. Being grabbed by the clothes like this is demeaning...]
Ugh... Let go of me... Do I have wings? [Yes, he's flying, but holy shit.] I can't see anything that's going on, either. Was this part of the performance? Are there others that were changed into something like this?
So, so curious! Listen, my little fae friend. ( caster raises a hand, his index finger lightly tapping against iori's nose, but none too hard so that the force knocks him back. it's such a cutesy display of affection, and he chuckles softly as he looks the male over from his wings, but there's nothing else that makes him different from a human. )
You aren't blind, are you? Maybe you got a bit of dust in your eyes. ( let caster help with that by shaking iori once, and then twice. three times for good measure. is there any fae dust that'll fall off of him? or is caster making this more than it has to be? either way, he's just trying to get whatever may be in his eyes out in the worst way possible, and one might say stop being a menace, caster, but that's quite hard. )
[HE'S GOING TO KILL HIM as soon as he's normal sized again. In the meantime, all he can do is flail angrily, trying to give one of those large hands a big kick for his efforts.]
I can't see anything because I'm too small! Make yourself useful and look around, or I'll go find someone else to help me. You're even worse than before.
( a shame! even with all the trashing going about, he finds that iori will get himself a headache if he keeps this up. in an attempt to be helpful, he drops him into his palm so that he's no longer held. )
What do you want me to look for? The person that did this to you?
[He huffs, but freedom is a good thing. Iori takes a moment to brush himself off, and after hopping a little in place and getting the hang of his wings (which, by the way, he does amazingly quickly), he zips up to latch onto the larger man's head, tiny hands gripping at his hair.
And then one hand yanks. Listen. He is speaking directly in his ear now.]
I want you to find a solution. If this has happened to anyone else, then it may give us a clue how to return me to normal size.
You're like a bug! Stop! ( please don't speak directly in his ear and ask for bambi 2 on the xbox because that doesn't exist here, weirdo. he flinches at the little tugs of his hair, and his ear twitches as the other speaks into it. the way this sounds is like caster has to work hard to figure out something that isn't his problem! so he sighs, shaking his head — mind you, his earring almost smacks iori by accident — while raising a hand to push the small fae away. )
If I do look into a solution — ( which he could fix himself, but he's not telling iori that. ) what do I get?
You won't do it out of the kindness of your heart?
[He's just being sarcastic. Calling him a meanie, in simpler terms... But his little fists stay clinging to Caster's hair, even if he has to duck from that insane swing of an earring. Please.]
What do you want? If it's something reasonable, then I'll agree in exchange for returning to normal. The deal would be that you have to return me to normal size and health, though.
I have to figure out what you can give me, which I'm sure you have limits.
( he hums softly in thought, nodding to himself as he reaches back up to grab his companion by the wings. he can't have this little demon latched to his hair the entire time they walk together, can he? )
Buuuut, that's for later! So how did you get yourself into this dilemma, what was the last thing you remember? Did someone slip something in your drink? ( BC HE WAS MINDING HIS BUSINESS UNTIL IORI ATTACKED HIMMMM! )
Anyway, don't point out that he was an annoying bug in this situation, he's stressed!! He sighs out some more of his irritation, focusing. Right.]
I was watching the big play, and one of the cast members threw some sort of powder into the audience. When I blinked to get it out of my eyes, this is how I was.
To be honest, it seemed exactly like something you would do, so I thought you might have the solution on hand. [Why did it sound like Merlin? Because he pulled chairs out of nowhere?? Because he just has that Look? Who knows.]
( HELLOOOO? that look.. you can't call him out for looking shadyTM, but that's how he's always looked during his life. while caster wasn't the person throwing the dust everywhere, he does have an idea when it comes to that unknown rascal, and it's as follows: )
Then we should hunt that person down! You see, I could help, but I only have so much. ( so much of what? mana? chroma? listen, he has to be careful with what he uses it for. don't take offence to it iori, this is for both you and caster's sake. well, iori's sake is a little smaller than his own, so he figures that brain follows body. )
You don't remember what the person looks like do you?
[HELP? He frowns, still clinging to Caster's hair even if he flies up higher to get a better spot. The top of his head, maybe? He just speaks a little louder.]
They were in costume, dancing through the audience. I couldn't get a good look before there was dust in my eyes. There's no way I could track them down with so little information.
( stop, because there's nothing iori can do to help caster's dilemma if he does run out of chroma. so this time, they have to go the easy route, and that happens to be trying to jog the other's memory. )
And you expect me to do the same? ( he glances up, trying to see where the other may be, but he guesses that the male has decided to sit on top of that mess called hair. ) This may take awhile, but I'll do what I can for you. We should figure out what the substance is that they used, is any of it on the floor..
[Call him fairy boy?! Why did he ask this guy for help again?
Agh. But he has to shove his anger aside and cooperate for the sake of returning to normal, right? He cuts himself off and allows him to keep speaking, exhaling slowly. Right, okay.]
There must be. You should be careful not to breathe it in, or even touch it. I'm not sure what it is that triggered the transformation itself. [Now that he's just sitting up here, he lifts his hands to touch at his own ears. They're pointy. This is ridiculous.]
You're already covered in whatever it is, but I'm sure it won't do much to me.
( he's already sort-of kind-of what iori is, but not actually so hopefully he gets a pass. he hums in thought, thinking on the situation that iori has gotten himself into, and he doesn't understand what's the point of turning humans into these petite creatures. is there something to gain? or powers that can unlock being this way?
he does as told though, raising a hand to cover his mouth just in case — )
You're like my fairy godfather, do take care of me. ( he's teasing, of course. so he takes a step forward, looking around the area to see other people are also shocked by what has happened to them, and some even claiming that a few have disappeared because they've became so small. uh oh. )
No one told me that I'd risk turning into a fairy...
[It's supposed to just be animals?! But dear god. People disappearing... This is serious, then, isn't it?!]
Whether I'm "lucky" or not, hearing that there are more people affected should motivate you to help. If we find a way to return me to full size, then we can help the others.
[Of course, he hasn't taken a look more closely yet, but one of the fairies is holding onto the finger of someone at their normal size. Some sort of attempt at hand holding. They don't seem too panicked... but others do? It's a mixed bag.]
( motivate him, that is. what it makes him want to do is go back to minding his business because this is actually not his problem. though, he does wish that iori was elsewhere at this time, and if he was, they'd both be doing what they came here to do — party! sadly, here he is having to become someone's ride and detective in search of fairy dust. ) Give me a moment, I think if ..
( he's crouching down to look under a table, and there's a bit of scattered dust settled in one spot. he inhales, and then exhales afterwards to blow the dust away as he takes notice to how it's faint, but there's a small path they can follow. ) Ha! Got a job for you, lil bugger.
( stop calling him out his name, caster. he reaches up to grab iori by the wings — again — so that he can drop the other onto the floor. ) Your eyes will do for this, can you see the path?
[They're delicate, what if they tear?? Ugh. But they don't, and he plops onto his little feet with a huff, dusting himself off.]
Also, it's Iori. At least address me by name if you're going to give me commands.
[All that aside, though, this is the only direction he has, so he is listening. A path... Oh. He thinks he can see what he means? Stepping towards it now, he frowns.]
I think I see something like a path in the dust. Where did this come from?
[Believable, right?? When he stammers like that? Anyway, he's staring at this dust, but the thing Merlin comes up with has him staring back, deadeyeing the man.]
What?
[How is that going to help anything, is what he was going to say... until the gears in his mind start spinning. He grabs a tiny palm full of the dust off of the floor and flutters back, up to Merlin's shoulder's height, and then tries to chuck the dust right at his face.
Well. It was Merlin's idea anyway. Iori just realizes that maybe, if it works and he turns tiny, he'll have more motivation to become large again himself instead of treating this like a game.]
( no interest, but here he is practically allowing his voice to shake with endearment. no matter, he'll act as if he didn't see that so iori will have some shame left. he was going to be such a kind person, but the moment that he throws dust into caster's face causes the servant (hobby) to cough just a little.
horrible. horrible! he can already feel himself not being himself any longer.. so when he becomes about the size of iori, but just a little taller... you already know he's not impressed.
since he's already have of what the problem is, he only keeps his main appearance, but he doesn't have to explain to iori where his wings are does he? )
Hm. You could have just admitted you hate tall people, is this what that is? ( he's standing in the dust, sighing as he shakes his head. he could use his magic, but where would that get him.. to iori wanting him to use it on him as well.. so they both suffer. )
Asato ; TDM
Date: 2019-12-08 03:46 am (UTC)Yes, please call me Iori.

Date: 2019-12-20 04:13 am (UTC)( the thin black tail gives a slow sway of contentment, pleased at having solved this incredibly minute problem.
entirely proving the point he was making, he looks at iori with wide, guileless eyes, though his expression begins to edge into hesitant and uncertain as he continues. he hadn't trusted any cats on the streets of ransen — he had avoided them — but Two Canes were supposed to be different, right? the brilliant creatures who had built ways to fly through the air and sail across the endless sea? why would they want to trick him?
a moment ago, he would have agreed without hesitation. but now iori has instilled in him a seed of doubt, and so he presses forward with questioning, ) How... do I know you won't lie to me, or do something bad? ( it's not that there's anything apparently untrustworthy about him, but... asato doesn't know much about humans. he can't really tell. ) Will you promise me that you won't?
( yep, that's all you need to do. but hearing it will give asato a gut instinct on the situation, and that's all he needs. )

Date: 2019-12-30 07:58 pm (UTC)but asato is also a creature that trusts in his instincts, in what he reads from people. he looks at iori now and believes that he is telling the truth -- that proof is painted in the tone of his voice, the clarity in his eyes.
(he's so much better with his words, though... it's almost intimidating.) )
Mm. I believe you. I can tell you aren't lying. ( the purest proof asato ever needed: a gut feeling. he glances down the street that iori had indicated and nods his head. ) Okay. We can go together, then?

Date: 2020-01-06 04:14 am (UTC)[It's simple, and Iori decides not to comment on the "I can tell" comment.
Mika ; TDM
Date: 2019-12-08 05:41 am (UTC)You don't have to look so embarrassed at the concept.
[Suddenly he's going full force with it!!]
Mika ; cordis holidays
Date: 2019-12-15 02:35 am (UTC)So, he'd gone out today and purchased something.
Kagehira-san, can you hear me?
exams! over! free! crawls into ur inbox
Date: 2019-12-22 07:19 pm (UTC)it hits him before he even sees it coming. one moment, he's tidying up after himself before heading out to run some errands, and the next, he's opening his eyes to see iori's face right up close.
( and, you know, stayed down. he's not a very good liar. )
SHAKES EXCITEDLY
Date: 2019-12-23 04:36 am (UTC)[A snap of a reply to that, as Iori's grip tightens slightly on Mika.

Date: 2019-12-23 05:30 am (UTC)Nn, sorry.

Date: 2019-12-23 05:42 am (UTC)Why didn't you tell me?

Date: 2019-12-23 05:59 am (UTC)( "time to time" meaning, more or less, "all the time," that is. that said, clearly it's nothing iori has to worry about having brought upon himself; it was simply something that had slipped mika's mind, been filed away as unimportant information to know about him. obediently wrapping his arm around iori's neck, he leans only lightly into him — truthfully, it's a little embarrassing to depend on someone else like this for something as simple as standing. if he had it his way, he'd just drink a juicebox and be done with it, but that's when iori says something that catches his attention and his tail flicks.
ah... so that's it. )
Chroma? Nn, I guess I have been a li'l short...
( chroma is... a little harder to deal with than food. and with one of his main sources of it avoiding him and all... mika glances away. )

To think that he was skipping meals like this regularly.]
I'll get you a glass of water and something more to eat, so wait here. [The kitchen isn't far, and so he moves to do that now, even while waiting for Mika to explain. Date: 2019-12-23 06:39 am (UTC)[Performing at a loss...
You'll be even hungrier than usual, and you won't be able to push yourself as much as you might have before.

in the meantime though, he guesses it's confession time. iori admitted to avoiding him after all.

Date: 2020-01-09 09:29 pm (UTC)mika had kind of understood the gist of it, had gone out of his way to make sure he did, but still. hearing that iori's avoidance had come from a place of concern rather than disdain is... a little bit reassuring. the rest of it, he's a little insulted, but a little resigned to the fact that it's kind of true. those black ears at the top of his head flatten slightly, and he interjects.

I'm sorry.

Date: 2020-01-20 06:18 am (UTC)Ya don't have to apologize or nothin', yer gonna make me embarrassed.

( with the dust being confirmed by the eyes of a full-blooded fairy for the moment, caster nods as he looks towards iori. )
If it was used against you, I wonder if you're able to use it to your advantage? You'll sprinkle it on someone, and interrogate!
( how is THAT helping? )

Iori just realizes that maybe, if it works and he turns tiny, he'll have more motivation to become large again himself instead of treating this like a game.]

horrible. horrible! he can already feel himself not being himself any longer.. so when he becomes about the size of iori, but just a little taller... you already know he's not impressed.
since he's already have of what the problem is, he only keeps his main appearance, but he doesn't have to explain to iori where his wings are does he? )
Hm. You could have just admitted you hate tall people, is this what that is? ( he's standing in the dust, sighing as he shakes his head. he could use his magic, but where would that get him.. to iori wanting him to use it on him as well.. so they both suffer. )
Alright Fae, since you have wings.. lead us.
